FAYE CLASS

TH CLOWN STORY  RESEARCH

This story is about a family experience  with the clown statue which is very natural and a little scary to the family. Story is about a homeless  person which  appears in a rich family and disturbing the children inside house. At first the family thought it could be same as a dream for children  bot later they realize it is a real clown man which live inside their house .

So-and-so's friend, a girl in her teens, is babysitting for a family in Newport Beach, Ca.
The family is wealthy and has a very large house — you know the sort, with a ridiculous amount of rooms. Anyways, the parents are going out for a late dinner/movie.
The father tells the babysitter that once the children are in bed she should go into this specific room (he doesn't really want her wandering around the house) and watch TV there.
The parents take off, and soon she gets the kids into bed and goes to the room to watch TV. She tries watching TV, but she is disturbed by a clown statue in the corner of the room. She tries to ignore it for as long as possible, but it starts freaking her out so much that she can't handle it.
She resorts to calling the father and asks, "Hey, the kids are in bed, but is it okay if I switch rooms? This clown statue is really creeping me out."

The father says, seriously, "Get the kids, go next door and call 911."
She asks, "What's going on?"
He responds, "Just go next door and once you call the police, call me back."
She gets the kids, goes next door, and calls the police. When the police are on the way, she calls the father back and asks, "So, really, what's going on?"
He responds, "We don't have a clown statue." He then further explains that the children have been complaining about a clown watching them as they sleep. He and his wife had just blown it off, assuming that they were having nightmares.
The police arrive and apprehend the "clown," who turns out to be a midget. A midget clown! I guess he was some homeless person dressed as a clown, who somehow got into the house and had been living there for several weeks. He would come into the kids' rooms at nights and watch them while they slept.

As the house was so large, he was able to avoid detection, surviving off their food, etc. He had been in the TV room right before the babysitter right came in there. When she entered he didn't have enough time to hide, so he just froze in place and pretended to be a statue.

Non-Linear Design: Clown War Post-Mortem

img_0035

I created a paper prototype for a game adaptation of Cuomo’s flash fiction piece “War of the Clowns.” In the game, the player controls the actions of two clowns with the goal of attracting the attention of a crowd and inciting violence.
The player chooses between three possible actions for each clown: insult, trick, or fight. Upon choosing an action, the player must successfully complete a rhythm challenge to achieve the desired effect. Insult and trick actions attract the attention of passers-by and generate loyalty to a specific clown. Once passers-by become loyal, the player may then cause the clowns to fight each other in order to incite violence.

I used quite a lot of visual abstraction in this prototype: icons to represent actions, exclamation points and/or question marks to represent passer-by reactions, changing clothing colors to represent loyalty, etc. I intervened in order to make the game non-linear by incorporating several locations in the game and allowing the player to access the locations in any order. The player also has choices regarding the actions of the clowns. This non-linearity expressed the story by portraying the clowns as roving agents of chaos.
The McGuffin in this game is chaos and violence itself. The use of abstraction (coins falling into the street once passers-by become violent) indicates the value chaos and violence have to the clowns.

I believe I used minimalism effectively. The game contains essentially three sprites that vary in color, three locations, and half a dozen game objects. The player knows exactly what’s important and can easily observe the consequences and collateral damage of their actions because of the minimalistic design.
My greatest room for improvement, I think, is in the game’s aesthetic. Although I’m happy with the art considering I first forayed into pixel art about a week before creating this prototype, the game aesthetic isn’t particularly new, creative, or original. My goal for my next prototype is to develop a more unique aesthetic that serves my narrative.

Creepy clown sightings no laughing matter

There are growing concerns following creepy clown sightings across the country, some even in our area, and with Halloween quickly approaching, police say  it's no laughing matter.

It's a trend spooking the nation - creepy clown sightings.
Now they are threatening school districts.

Police and homeland security are investigating scary Instagram posts in Philadelphia.

The posts from over the weekend all use the word clown, some even talk about blowing up schools.

In Cincinnati, Ohio, a district closed Friday when a woman reported being attacked by a male dressed as a clown.

"He had a clown suit that was red or orange striped.  He did have a mask on and had red hair."

The unusual reports started surfacing back in August in Greenville, South Carolina.
Children told police that clowns tried luring them into woods by offering money.
Since then sightings keep increasing.

On New York's Long Island, social media threats from anonymous clown accounts kept elementary children inside during recess.

Parent Khalique Owens reacted, "Nobody knows how to defend against it because we don't know if it's a prank or they'll harm people."

Now police are using social media to track down the costumed offenders.

In Houston, Texas,  this Instagram post shows clowns threatening to kidnap students or kill teachers.

As Parent Rochelle Hudson explains, "This would make me drive my daughter to and from school and maybe walk inside to get her instead of her walking to the car by herself."

And for anyone who thinks this is a laughing matter, police say there is at least one deadly incident linked to a clown hoax.  In Reading, PA,  a 16 year old was stabbed to death in a dispute. He was wearing a clown mask.
A 29 year old now faces first degree murder charges in the case.

Police have arrested at least 12 people across the country including one in Roaring Spring, Blair County for participating in menacing stunts or making false reports.
