Evaluation guide freak and unique
. What were you asked to produce ?
We were asked to produce a print advert and also a short video 15 to 30 seconds advert.
. What area did you gain skill in ?
I think I have learnt many skills in many thing now . First of all I found out how to create a new thing . I could experience views about how to record the life and the environment I have been interested around the this subject since my childhood .
The course has four parts ;
Photography . Photoshop ,video production
Photography
I was very interested about different part of the camera options and I loved to learn each single part of it.
I could learn how to work with the a DSLR camera .
I understood how a DSLR camera works.
DSLR = Digital Single Lens Reflex
DSLR stands for “Digital Single Lens Reflex”.

ISO

In the photography lessons I could understand how to work by ISO,t about the pictures sensivity and light.
The "normal" range of ISO is about 100 to 1600
The lowest number in ISO is for the lightest situation for example for they light
The highers numbers which ISO has on the screen are for darker situation ,It means how many the light is lower in the space the sensors manages the darkness and by giving the propitiate birthness to the picture make a real visible view.
I learnt the ISO is a part of camera that manages the coming noise from darkness into the camera .
Its huge sensors system control the light and noises by its sensitivity that a picture needs in different situation .
The ISO usually start from 100 or 200 which these low ISO are most often used for in the bright situation. Basically when the camera is with the lower ISOs number, more lights required.
ISO like 800 to higher should be using at the darker situation like night or indoors places.
Also ISO has connection with the shutter speed for example if you
want to change the ISO to higher sensitivity you should change the shutter speed to higher as well.
In side of the camera the ISO are millions of sensors which when are receive the lights, rigolar them to the right visible for us.
Aperture

AS we can see in the picture when the lens become bigger aperture number become lower .

I would like to say although there some question in my mind about this part of camera but I have learnt many thing .I am very delighted to it.
In during the photography lessons for me This was a session which I could see at least what is meaning of Photography world.
I think Aperture is very specific part of the camera which by its different lens focus options
( F 1,4 - F 2- 2,8 - F 4 - 5,6 - F 8 - F 11- F 16 - F 22- F 32 ....) give ability and opportunity to us to select a particular area in the picture that we want.
For example in Shallow depth of field we use aperture F 4 or F 5,6 the focusing is on front of picture and the background is completely blurry .
For mid depth of field we use a little higher aperture F/ 9 or F 10 or a little higher we access to focusing to mid part of the picture that is what we would wanted between the whole view in the lens.
In my experience this kind of picture is very exiting to taking because the aperture gives you choice to feature an area in scene which however it is hidden in back of other objects but you can highlight by focusing .For taking a death and field picture we use aperture F 22 to 32 to higher which it focus on the all side of picture.
And also for deep of field it start from F/11 to F/22 which aperture give us the focusing to all the picture. AS we can see in the below picture when the lens become bigger aperture number become lower .
Kind of shallow depth of field picture which we have already learnt in the class .We have been told what aperture it needs to shot a picture like this. How we see the first flower in the front is completely clear to watch but second one became as a blurry background .

View point photography usually come from up of the picture.

Shutter speed
The Shutter speed is part of camera that works with its other parts the ISO and Aperture .
Shutter speed control the duration of motion blur in the picture. For example :
When we are taking a picture from a moving abject like a car with high speed or a bird in the sky,
If we don't use appropriate or a higher shutter speed the background or object in situation like this will be blurry and the picture is not going to be clear as we want. The speed will effect on the shots naturally.
So shutter speed give a chance for controlling the blurs and lights which are coming into the camera into the camera and also to record an happen .
Basically the curtain which exist on the back of the lens, by one blinks shot and record a sense in very short time and then send it to camera .The shutter speed has different options for different situation. For using the shutter speed on camera we turn button to ....

I am skilled in Working with the tripod and take pictures in situations which the camera needs a balance
.We worked in lighting the camera .Now I know how to work the camera
inside using halogens lighting.
Video production
I became more interested about the filming few years ago when I thought that now I have some knowledge about the community which I am living in . I always was following those kind of films in the cinema which were made to show the community problems that exist in the communities but people have forgotten .
My main reason for attending this course was to learn to academically to be as a person that at least can show the things that people are not seeing . So since the course has started it has been very delightful for me, each of its days.
Although it is first steps of my education for movie production , I think I have started a very great and huge project in my life and learnt many things about this subject. We learnt some fundamental methods which are the is base of this subject .
.what did you research ?
We researched about existing adverts from YouTube and websites and we recognised different kinds of things like sound, tempo,diegtic, non-digetic, in the videos. We also researched in YouTube in Marissas class for different adverts. We learnt about advert feature ,titles , kinds of adverts and advert audiences.
We did research by visiting the gallery which it was same as primary research .
We this researasrch put in the blog .
We Researched about our advert video using clown advert.
We did secondary research about pictures and subjects and I was inspired from it to make an idea for making the advertisement.
We also did a lot of researches in photography class about the kinds of pictures .

In our group we made plan about a freak and unique advert. We tried to create an idea to be very fresh and attractive for the our audience.
Our idea the product was about coffee intensity , clown mask.
We drew round a spider digram about our plan as to how make a freak and unique advert; Our audience was adults.

For preparing before the shooting day we did some researches about the different selling adverts.
We had few lessons about selling adverts with tutors Marissa and Fayee.
In the first lesson in video production class we worked round the diagrams line to make a plan for this project.

After the planning we divided the duties top each person in our group and we wrote on the sheet all of the equipments which the project needed .We also mentioned our roles in the this project.

We were alowoed to make a 15 to 30 second video advert.So the plan had to consider the time limitation.
We had to made a short but a freak and unique advert video.
For the start we choose the location's which we were going to taking the shots.
There were tow locations that we decided to record the shots in it.Our main location was staff room because we thought it is right place for this kind of advert . We thought accord to product advert purpose which it was attracting people to buy a freak and unique product, staff room background and its inside space could be more familiar for audience to representing the product.
We spoke about the project in the class by tutor. We discussed about main reason to making an product advert .
.About how we can get a location permission .
.What responsibility the student have about the equipments and props

responsibility about the places which is our locations,About what is our responsibility if we record the people photag without their promotion.
Respecting to each other in during the filming in the group was one of other points,
For getting the location premition Miss Marisa tutorial gave us the place permission,
The tauter spoke with us about our first planning for making ahead short filming . She said how it can be a helpful experience for next projects.
After we have drown our ideas and its details to creating a freak and unique advert on the round the diagram, we received two sheets form more which those titles were locations sheet and call sheet.
These two form in each one had many question on it on the column line . Basically the forms were about how to following rules in during a process for making short film.
It was kind of a basic film making statute which showed the students commitment to making a short film ;
To the people involving in the project.
To the using property or location.
To the props or equipment which are from college.
I have written underneath parts of questions that were related to our projects and me with my group completed in the planning lesson .

After the all of discussion and planning in the class ,we left the class to visit the locations.
In my group me and another two members Lieam and Esstiven Allen carried the camera by taking in the hand planning sheets ,we visited the location .
We took some practical shots in the two locations; corridor and staff room .
I think it was very experimental to doing a practical job like this before the shooting day .
I personally appreciate this part of project because in first step in this project I could feel a connection between the idea which we had on the sheets as an imagination and also what we were going to make as a reality on the scene .
It also was more an experience to modifying our mistakes in the planning.
Location visiting
In the location we record few shots for each actions .
We took some pictures from both locations .
Background, stuffs.
Actors.
Cloth .
We checked the excising lights.
Traing camera white balance .
Using the camera by hand holding and on the tripod.
Traying do doing some shots; close up, mid shot, wide shot , panning shot, Dutch shot or candent shot.
Taking the shot from different area by considering ;
Shots time,
Actor distances to the camera and zooming .

Zooming by person and having needed light in the scene .
Also we practiced each action in the locations which were already planed .
At the end we brought our job to the class and by a sd card hard drive for editing .
We looked at the shots in the computer to be make Shure which our shots are proper and are ready for editing.
It was last day for recording.
We also took some picture from our product for next week editing in the class .
Filming
For filming it was not too unfamiliar to us because we have already had an examination experience ion the scene for preparation in this project.
We have been learned how to work by camera and how to challenge ourself by the a freakand unique idea,
So we got ready by our members of our group.
We got enough guiding from the tuter in the filming day like how to work as a time working, how to use camera ,by its setting and also how to keep looking after the commrcorder as our commitment to equipment.
We took the camera and our plan sheet and went the location.
First location = through the corridor
In the our first locating according to the plan one I was in the back of the camera to shoot the a wide shots.
Another two members estaven allen and liam play same as actors in the filming.
Estaven play as a main actor.
Story start in the corridor. Estaven suddenly open the corridor door and appear as a guy which is very angry by a clown mask on his head. He is passing away the people which are waking through the corridor.
He walk almost 7 meters and then get near to staff room.
Now another actors Lieam play a short role same as a person which is getting out from the staff room.
Just before that Estaven is getting to staffroom ,Lieam accidently face to a very angry guy which is trying to get to staff room.
Estevan as horrible person pass him by pushing him to the front wall and then he goes to the staff room.
All of actions in this try to say to audience there is person which very angry because he is looking for something to drink, a cup of coffee)
1-In this shot we used wide shot .Our shooting time was 12 seconds
2-We record twice shots to choose the better one in editing
3-We used camcorder on the tripod to prevent from moving noise
4-The lighting normal
5-This shot has been plan to be black and white in the editing
Second location = staff room
We had three shots in the staff room however the plan was suppose to be just three .
The firs shot was point shot or shoulder shot .
In this I have been handing the camcorder. This shot shows action when angery guy get tob the staff room and he is going to get himself to the intensity coffee which is on the sink beside the kettle.
When he gets in the staff room he walks for few steps and camera is shooting him from his showlder.
1-We didn't use tripod in this action because the actors was moving and it was nicer to use this kind of shot. This shot was more kind of action shot actually. we includes hand shaking in the shot for the audience to give a real feeling about the actions.
The tutor offered this shot . I appreciate that.
2- In this shot we learnt how to start an action in professional way by counting the number from 3 to 1. It is good way to have a connecting between the person in back of the camera and actors.
3-In each shot we record some more second filming to be more confident about our shots .
We can do cutting of the extra times in the editing.
4-The shot was used was a panning shot.
Second location- third shots front of sink
In this location we shot an action that the horrible guy get to coffee bottle and immediately open up the bottle let . He is trying to make a cup of miracle coffee for himself. He is going to show he in the hurry to drink cup of intensity coffee to turn to as a happy guy.
We tried to focus on the coffee bottle and cup of coffee in this shot.
Half of actors body is in the shot frame which is showing his acting.
We used tripod just 2 or 3 meters far from the action place in front of the sink.
In this shot we have got a nice frame for background, stuff: kettle. mug, coffee bottle, some dishes which represent the place. The shot focusing is on the coffee product and audience can easily realise what is advert about.
We try to our advert product be freaky and unique as much as we can.
1-We used tripod to be more established in the situation however we could shot by hand holding.
2-This shot was kind of mid shot or close up .
3.Since first locating we had one actors.
4-We turn camera to whit balance many time by getting the paper in front of the camera.
5-We didn't mind to record background noise because we are going to edit the videos.
Second location -forth action-last action
In this action we can see the guy has made a cup of coffee . He still has a clown mask on his face by holding the cup of coffee in his hand . He is showing as an angry guy yet. He start to drinking the coffee and suddenly he turn to a happy guy and looks smiley. It sound , he is enjoying with a cup of coffee,like has refiled by this product .The whole purpose of this advert we can see in the end of the video, when a guy turning his grumpy face and become happy by drinking the coffee.
1-We put camera on the tripod to have whole the frame.
2. The last shot is close up shot looks nice.
3.In this action the massage to audience is the person who has used the product he is realy satisfied by it.
4-For first time and last time in the product video advert we can see guy face by smile.
5-We all the member of group tried to make a freak and unique product (intensity coffee )advert to attract our audience
( adults ) to by this product.
Editing
Team working
I think team working is one of most important part of project. I worked by two other guy members of group . We shared our idea first and evantualy made a unit idea.We did reaserch about advert,discussed about it.We did planing close together .We devide duties as for a director, prducer and actors.
We worked by camera to get some experince for photaging.
We prepared props as much each of us as could .
However it was first experience but we had good reaction. We worked together in the shooting day .we tried to by giving the our opinion about the action modify the mistakes,
We didn't chose to be in one group and it just happen because we were sitting beside to each other in the classroom. So however we had different idea and opinion about filming we could be in one direction.
We always tried to be following the the rules in during the filming. Also were being looking after the equipment and props as a commitment team.

An advert
I create an freak and unique idea to show my advert . The product is about a sun protection . The idea come from where I had an experience about using a product. The audience of this product is going to be young ladies.
In this idea I have mixed three different objects together to make one freak and unique product . The objects are ; a sun protection a piece of chocolate bar and also a piece of pea.
This product is kind of different thing that represent several option for the audience .
For example ; the chocolate bar gives feeling of the nice and fresh smile to the product and pea frout adds some sensitivity to the product.
In during the this project I tried to collect more information about adverts products , I researched from internt . I could see many different brands in websites and I got inspiration from different advert brands.
So first of all I draw my plan for how to making advert in the sketches book and managed to placed the ;

when made ready my freak and unique idea and I could see on the paper which what I am going to do I took the objects to the Photography class.
In during the Photo shop lessons I used different tools and Technics by Photoshop.
For print advert we used magic wand tool,and the other tool which used were pencil
selection tool.
we used the pen tool for cutting of the picture.Also;
.Free form pen tool.

.Delete anchor point tool.
.Convert point tool.
I used some more tool for my advert .
I used text tool for typing the slogan and title.we used elaser tool, background elaser tool .We used move tool to moving the texts.
What did you like your self ?
What I am satisfied about myself firstly ;
I could to be as person which can have realising and understanding the main reason to attendance to this part of course to be doing as a media student .
Secondly ;
My ability and imagination to make a good connection between what I have in my mind and what I am going to get inspiration from a professional adverts and other ideas.
I am exited to compose different ideas and I like to be more use to diversity of ideas ,I think this a good point for myself and I can be more succeed in it .
I could understand why we are going to make graphic pictures for example an selling product advert or a ghostly face in the abandoned building .
I think I recognized what is the whole reason to making an freak and unique graphic pictures.
We were asked to create a picture which however It doesn't exist naturally but by our work out somehow we should give a strong believe to audience that this graphics pictures which is on the wall or...giving good feeling, to make a connection between audience and picture, basically to bring a new view to people to be watching at the effects that you have made by your imagination and ideas..
Thirdly I am happy by myself to be a graphic learner. At the first it was a little hard to using the tools and what computer working but I think I am confident to doing them after a few weeks .
I am satisfied to work by Photoshop. I like to draw and then bring idea to the computer to making graphic pictures .I like taking the picture by camera and again bring them to Photoshop to make graphic pictures.

I think I could doing well in all different part of the course . In during the freak and unique project I became more interested about photography and how to work by DLSA camera.
In a peer feed back I think my photography work and filming were stronger then Photoshop although I am excited by Owain lessons and his tutorial . I think Photoshop is more practical then other subjects or at least I can say for me is like this.
In the filming project I was so interested for making the product advert. We made a short video in first step and I think it is going to be a professional product advert by editing.
Me and my group planed a video advert, we drew every think on the story board then call sheet ...and then went to location to shot the actions. To be honest making a film like this in professional a way was very exciting for me which I could get many skills from this project.
I loved to get to Marissa video production tutorials. Her tutorial was very interesting to be learning because I could learn many basic thing about the filming which I am sure I will be required to it in my future. I could learn how to make plan, how to find location , to collect equipment, select a producer, and director and players, how to get premonition from resident and lot of other things.
I loved to listen to her tutorial specially in location area . I felt confident to getting her explanations about how to get different shots; close up, wide shot , mid shot.
I loved to work by com-recorder how to zooming ,shots;close up, wide shot, mid shot, making blank light. How to getting the panning shots, dutch shot or canted shot. how to work by screen and its options.
FEED BACK FOR AUDIENCE
I think audience will be satisfied by my adverts.
The advert product which I have made has been supposed its audience be ladies. I used different colours in my product,different taste for different appeal and also an attractive slogan for my audience. I tried to make an advert which is making from three different objects to giving more sensitivity to audience.
.areas for improvement for next project ?
I think most part of the graphic and Photoshop is practical and I usually personally after the lesson feel the time has not been enough and it needs some more time in the class to practice the proposal which we are working on it in the day. I am very happy to practice on the project at home but it is not possible because of financial problem to buying the programs.
